Daniel Cherbuin’s Bast | Art: Anarchy Meets Creativity at Mondejar Gallery
Zurich, Switzerland – 15 September 2009 - Mondejar Gallery is set to unveil an exciting new exhibition, Bast | Art, featuring the groundbreaking works of Swiss multimedia artist Daniel Cherbuin. Running from
8 October to 5 November 2009, the solo show promises to challenge conventional perspectives on art and culture with its bold exploration of media and underground creativity.
Known for his subversive humor and innovative approach, Cherbuin has carved out a unique niche in the art world. His career spans audio-video electronics, experimental television, and Zurich’s vibrant techno scene, where he co-founded the avant-garde Sputnik-TV. Along the way, he has collaborated with cultural icons like Yello, Division Kent, and filmmaker Thomas Haemmerli, blending art and storytelling in ways that push traditional boundaries.
A Provocative Showcase
The
Bast | Art exhibition highlights Cherbuin’s distinctive talent for ironic and anarchic artistry. Visitors can expect to see:
- Gaggi No Stop: A solo video installation showcasing Cherbuin’s signature chaotic style.
- Division Kent Visuals: Dynamic concert visuals that redefine live performance art.
- Der Gotthard ist Schwarz: An experimental video collaboration pushing the limits of visual storytelling.
Cherbuin’s re-cut of Yello’s Oh Yeah, presented at Art Basel 38, and his work on Seven Dumpsters and a Corpse further underscore his reputation as a trailblazer in contemporary media arts. His ability to critique cultural norms while maintaining a sense of playful irreverence makes his art both thought-provoking and entertaining.
About the Artist
Born in Zofingen, Switzerland, in 1971, Daniel Cherbuin has spent decades at the forefront of multimedia experimentation. From his early days exploring Bertolt Brecht’s radio theory to his modern video installations, Cherbuin has consistently pushed the boundaries of what art can achieve.
