Mondejar Gallery Featured in The Philippine Star for Forest of Civilizations at Expo 2025 Osaka
Mondejar Gallery is honoured to be featured in The Philippine Star, a leading legacy newspaper in the Philippines with millions of readers, for the Forest of Civilizations installation at Expo 2025 Osaka in Osaka, Japan.
The Forest of Civilizations was presented through a collaboration between Minerva Mondejar Steiner, Founder of Mondejar Gallery, and Subfossil Oak Company, with Tomáš Rothschein as Pavilion Director and Marek Noga as CEO and Founder. The installation featured 133 ancient subfossil oak trees, some dating back up to 6,500 years, standing as a powerful reminder that climate harmony is not a trend but a responsibility shared across nations, cultures, and generations.
Over the course of the Expo, the Forest of Civilizations welcomed an array of distinguished guests and international leaders. The Philippines was represented by environmental advocate Tessa Prieto-Valdes during the official visit of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., joined later by Tourism COO Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles.
Other notable participants included Manuel Salchli, Swiss Commissioner General, Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz of Belgium, Prince Nikola Petrović-Njegoš together with Ivona Savićević, Deputy Commissioner General of Montenegro, President Petr Pavel of the Czech Republic, President Gustavo Petro of Colombia, Maher Nasser, Commissioner General of the United Nations Pavilion, Professor Dr Hiroshi Ishiguro of Osaka University, and John Mucha, grandson of painter Alfons Mucha.
Several guests took part in the installation’s symbolic tree-labelling ceremony, representing their respective nations and reinforcing the project’s central message of shared stewardship of the planet.
