Mondejar Gallery Presents Tacloban Artists at JE Mondejar Computer College

9 July 2022, Tacloban City, Philippines – The Mondejar Gallery proudly unveiled its latest exhibition at the JE Mondejar Computer College Function Hall, an event graced by prominent figures such as Mayor Alfred Romualdez, General Bernard Banac, Vice-Governor Atty. Carlo Loreto, and esteemed art patrons Dr. Bernadette Mondejar-Schlueter and Madame Lucita Mondejar, President of JE Mondejar Computer College. Also in attendance were members of the Board of Trustees, Vice President for Marketing Jose Rene Mondejar, Jr., and Vice President for Technology Lord Joseph Tipo Mondejar. Their presence underscored a collective commitment to celebrating and preserving Tacloban’s thriving artistic heritage.

Curated by Minerva Mondejar Steiner, founder of Mondejar Gallery and Vice President for Communications at JE Mondejar Computer College, the exhibition highlighted the extraordinary talents of Tacloban’s artists. Featured creatives included Dante Enage, Mel Tagana, Aljun Alvarez, Joan Bituin, Philip Salem, Kenn Manatad, Aulefrau, Kimberly Ann Yau, Aldrin Mercado, Myra Medalla, Yobz Temporosa, Jimmy Barredo, Steve Acerden, and Clint Gonzales. Many of these artists have been nurtured under the mentorship of Madame Dulce Cuna, a distinguished professor at the University of the Philippines, whose guidance has been instrumental in shaping Tacloban’s burgeoning art scene.

This thoughtfully curated exhibition offered an evocative exploration of Tacloban’s cultural richness, bridging the works of established and emerging artists. It provided an engaging platform for these creatives to present their distinctive perspectives, inviting audiences to connect deeply with the region’s artistic identity.

Through this exhibition, Mondejar Gallery reinforced its commitment to promoting cultural appreciation and fostering meaningful dialogue about Tacloban’s resilience, aesthetic evolution, and storytelling depth. By amplifying the voices of the city’s artists, the gallery celebrated not only Tacloban’s enduring artistic legacy but also its promising future, contributing significantly to the region’s dynamic cultural landscape.
