M. Mondejar Steiner Foundation, in Collaboration with Mondejar Gallery, Successfully Hosts Film Benefit Featuring Brillante Mendoza’s Ma’ Rosa

Mondejar Steiner Foundation, in collaboration with Mondejar Gallery, held its inaugural annual Film Benefit at Arthouse Cinema Alba in Zurich, featuring the acclaimed Filipino film Ma’ Rosa by Cannes-awarded director Brillante Mendoza. The event was a resounding success, fostering meaningful cultural exchange while raising funds for critical advocacy programs benefiting survivors of Typhoon Haiyan in Tacloban City, Philippines.

The evening commenced with the screening of Ma’ Rosa, offering attendees a powerful glimpse into the social realities of the Philippine drug war. Director Brillante Mendoza captivated the audience during an engaging Q&A session, sharing his creative journey and the social issues that inspired his film.

Following the screening, guests proceeded to Commihalle for a dinner and live auction. Representatives from the Philippine Embassy and prominent members of the Swiss-Filipino community joined the discussions, which highlighted the event’s broader mission: to use art as a medium for cultural understanding and social awareness.

The proceeds from the Film Benefit will directly support the M. Mondejar Steiner Foundation’s advocacy initiatives, including livelihood projects such as providing fishing boats to families affected by Typhoon Haiyan and education programs for underprivileged children.
