Mondejar Gallery Hosts Film Benefit Featuring Brillante Mendoza’s Ma’ Rosa in Zurich

24 May 2017, Zurich, Switzerland – Mondejar Gallery held its first annual Film Benefit featuring the Cannes-awarded Filipino director Brillante Mendoza, who presented his acclaimed film Ma’ Rosa at Arthouse Cinema Alba in Zurich. Known for its raw portrayal of the Philippine drug war, Ma’ Rosa provided the audience with a unique perspective on socio-political issues, fostering a deeper cultural exchange between Switzerland and the Philippines.

The evening, attended by representatives from the Philippine Embassy, included a Q&A session with Mendoza, followed by a dinner at Commihalle. Attendees had the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions around the film’s themes, highlighting the gallery’s commitment to using art as a medium for social awareness and dialogue.

Proceeds from the benefit were directed towards Mondejar Gallery’s advocacy programmes, particularly initiatives supporting livelihood projects for families affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

The event marked a significant step in Mondejar Gallery’s mission to bridge cultures and inspire social change through cinematic artistry.
